Lawrence Silverman, 92 passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2024. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Larry was born in Brooklyn, NY. He lived in Springfield, MA and then moved to Ramsey, NJ in 1965. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Coast Guard from 1949-1952. He spent 43 years in the textile business as Chairman and Principal of Eve-Joy Industries, Inc in New York City.
He lived in the Ramsey Golf & Country Club where he served two terms on the board of directors and was a past President.
Aside from his family, sports were a major passion. He was an avid golfer and had won many major tournaments, including the Club Championship, Senior, Super Senior Championship, President and Directors Cup. During his teenage years he was a semi-pro baseball player and grew up a die-hard Brooklyn Dodgers fan.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Georgia (DeCarlo) Silverman of Ramsey. His son Don Silverman of Springfield, MA, his daughters, Jennifer (Pomper) Cody, Stephanie (Pomper) Connell and husband Robert of Ramsey. His grandchildren, Alison and David Kramer, Ryan and Madison Cody, Caitlyn and Quinn Connell. Great-Grandchildren, Jonathan and Madeline Kramer. Lawrence was pre-deceased by his son Neal Silverman of California and his brother Eddie Silverman.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 PM – 5 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
