Louis O. Melchior passed away on July 18, 2021 at his home in Upper Saddle River. He was 77. Louis was an alumnus of Bucknell University and a mechanical engineer. In his first position at Bendix Corp., he worked on instrumentation for the Concorde. He continued his career at Western Union. After that, he pursued his hobby and passion as a profession, serving the community of Chevrolet Corvette aficionados with all aspects of support for preserving classic examples of the marque. He was active in local and national organizations and owned in excess of 100 examples over his lifetime, with his pristine 1965 Corvette remaining in his possession. Louis’ other interests were varied and included music, trivia, as well as being a Jets and Mets fan. He is survived by his children Dean, Brett and Heather, five grandchildren (Andrew, Lauren, Jatin, Hannah and Holly,) as well as his sisters Elaine and Priscilla, and the mother of his children, Jacqueline.
A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Church of Franklin Lakes, 649 Franklin Ave. at 12 PM on Saturday, July 24, 2021. Arrangements are being handled by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, Ramsey.
