Lucille Delano (nee Pelosi), 87, on March 15, 2025 of Ramsey, NJ formerly of Jersey City. Beloved mother of Maria Bogaenko (nee Delano) and husband Alex, Tony Delano and wife Nancy Roka, and late son Peter Delano and wife Staci Anson. Adored Grandmother (Nana) of Julia, Emma and Nina Bogaenko and Nicholas, Maia, Angela and Matthew Delano. She is predeceased by her beloved husband George and her cherished sister and brother.
Lucille had a long career as a registered nurse. She was a graduate of the Jersey City Medical Center Hospital School of Nursing. She also studied at Rutgers University, Jersey City Division. A lifelong caregiver, she worked as a public health nurse, in several doctor’s offices, as a private duty nurse, as a visiting nurse with Valley Homecare and Valley Hospice where she would often have to leave home in the middle of the night to attend to patients, and finished up her career in the intake department of Valley Home Care. She was a compassionate and caring nurse who was beloved by all of her patients.
She was the best mother and Nana a family could ask for, always available to help, encourage and support her family. She was generous and kind. She was the organizer of family gatherings, and the glue that kept everyone together. Next to her love of family, Lucille will always be remembered for her love of animals, especially cats. She was devoted to all of the cats she kept as pets over the years as they brought her great joy. She loved going to the opera and playing bridge with her numerous friends, which she did as often as possible. She was involved in the community as a member of many organizations over the years including the Women’s Club of Ramsey, The Ramsey Garden Club, The Leisure Club, The Ramsey League of Registered Nurses as well as several bridge groups. She also belonged to a walking group and could be found every week on either a Tuesday or Thursday morning at the Corner Café, where her group of friends has met for breakfast on a weekly basis for many, many years.
Lucille also loved the beach, the family spent summer vacations there every year. She was delighted to be able to eventually purchase her own home on Long Beach Island where she spent many happy times with family and friends.
