Lydia C. Reilly (Née DePaoli), 87, of Saddle River, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2021. Lydia was predeceased by her husband, Thomas E. Reilly (2010) and is survived by her children, John and his wife, Jan, Gina (Butler) and her husband, Douglas, and David and his wife, Mary, and by her beloved grandchildren, Alex, Sarah, Matthew, Jack and Anna, and great-granddaughter, Lily.
Lydia was born in New York City to Angelina and David DePaoli. Growing up, Lydia enjoyed the company of her large, extended family in Greenwich Village. Summers in Mount Kisco, NY with her siblings and cousins provided memories to last a lifetime. Lydia graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan, attended NYU, and became a proud college graduate in her forties; receiving a B.A. in English from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Lydia and Tommy’s 52 year marriage was a testament to their devotion to family and faith, and to enjoyment of life’s pleasures including frequent travel and appreciation of the arts.
Lydia was a gentle, kind soul who bravely faced life’s challenges with humility and dignity. Her family is so grateful to have had her in their lives. A Memorial Mass will be offered at the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River on November 26th at 11:15 AM. Arrangements are being handled by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, Ramsey. Donations in Lydia’s name may be made to Church of the Presentation - Soup Kitchen Ministry, 271 W.
