Margaret Gonzalez Obituary

Margaret Rose Gonzalez, 66, a cherished soul whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her, passed away peacefully in Mahwah, NJ, on February 27, 2026.

Margaret's life was a testament to her loving nature and her ability to nurture those around her. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel at home. Her warmth was steady, her love unwavering, and her presence the quiet anchor of her family. She was the beloved wife of Jaime, her partner in everything, with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion, laughter, and deep friendship.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and loving mother to Jaime and his wife Megan, Timothy and his wife Kathryn, and Thomas and his wife Kristin. Becoming “Nana” to Avery was one of the most cherished chapters of her life, a role she embraced with endless love, stories, and hugs. Margaret poured herself into her family, celebrating their milestones, supporting their dreams, and making every holiday and Sunday dinner something special. She is also survived by her dear siblings, John and Marie, preceded by her mother Jackie and father John.

Margaret dedicated her entire professional career as an analytical chemist at Novartis Pharmaceuticals in Suffern, NY. She took pride in her work, valuing both the science and the colleagues who became friends over the years.

Outside of work, Margaret found joy in the simple and meaningful things. She was an avid reader, always with a book nearby, escaping into stories while still keeping one ear tuned to the sounds of her family. Her kitchen was her love language and meals were made not out of obligation but out of love and care. If you sat at Margaret’s table, you left full, in every sense of the word.

Hilton Head, SC held a special place in her heart. The beach was her sanctuary. She found joy in long walks, warm sun, and the steady, comforting rhythm of the waves. She brought that same spirit to her love of sports, cheering with unmistakable enthusiasm and a cold Coors Light in hand. She rooted fiercely for Villanova and Saint Joe’s basketball, stood by the New York Giants through every season, and never missed her beloved tradition of attending Mets Opening Day. Anyone who ever watched a game with her knew her loyalty ran deep, especially when it came to Tom Seaver.

Margaret’s legacy is one of steadfast love, quiet strength, and a life centered around family. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered in the meals we share, the games we watch, and the waves that meet the shore.
