Margaret-Mary Moran

Margaret-Mary Moran, 88, of Mahwah, NJ, died on April 8, 2021, in Ridgewood, NJ. Peggy was born on June 6, 1932, to Michael and Anne (King) Fahey, and grew up in the Bronx, NY.

She attended secretarial school and while working for IBM in 1957, met and married Robert Francis Moran.

She was the beloved mother of four children:  Michael Moran (and wife Linda) of Jersey City, Cathy Moran Hajo (and husband Nabil) of Mahwah, Eileen Moran Cosenza (and husband James) of Hawthorne, and Laurence Moran (and wife Lisa) of Wyckoff. She was the grandmother of nine: David, Madeline, Marcella, Dwight, Brian, and Steven Moran, Kevin and Sean Cosenza, and Meg Hajo. She is also survived by a brother, Roger Fahey of Whitestone, NY. Husband Robert, brother Joseph Fahey and sister Kathleen Dillon predeceased her. 

Peggy and Bob lived in Mineola, NY, after marriage, and moved to a brand-new home built for them in Mahwah in 1969. She lived the rest of her life in her Fardale home and was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was an avid gardener and reader, well-known at the Mahwah Public Library for her large tote bag filled with books.  She enjoyed swimming and loved hosting parties for family and friends. She was always smiling, joking, and embarrassing her children with her unique sense of humor. She loved her grandchildren and was able to spend time with them as they grew up. She worked part-time at the Ridgewood News, at PAR Associates, and the ISIS corporation, until retiring in 1997. 

Due to travel restrictions and the COVID pandemic, a viewing, memorial mass, and burial were attended only by immediate family. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date. 

The family requests that donations in her memory be made to the Mahwah Public Library or the New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, NY.
