Marguerite Julia Dorney, 87, longtime resident of Ramsey, and beloved wife of the late Daniel Edmond Dorney, passed away September 16, 2021 at Christian Health Care Center, Wyckoff, NJ. Daughter of the late Frederick Wulf and Margaret Sullivan, she was born June 13, 1934, in Staten Island, NY. She was valedictorian of her high school class and graduated with a degree in education from St. Joseph’s College for Women, Brooklyn, NY.
Marguerite, a devoted and loving wife, was truly a one-of-a-kind woman who supported all of her children and grandchildren's hopes and dreams. She was an excellent role model for us all. Her quick wit and humor entertained her family and friends continually over the years. Family dinner was a cherished time of each day, with her constant view of a ‘nice’ meal always being served. She was loved, respected and admired by her grandchildren. She created wonderful memories and cherished time with her best friend, Judy – her sister. Margie thoroughly enjoyed raising her 6 children, playing bridge with her friends – hopefully bringing home those ‘quarters’, her church involvement – teaching CCD at St. Paul’s R.C. Church; being a Eucharistic minister at both St. Paul’s and St. Luke’s R.C. Church, days at the Ramsey Pool and the yearly family vacations.
She was very happily married for 51 years to her husband and soul mate, Daniel. She is survived by their six children: Michael (Dorothy) of Grand Rapids, MI; Maureen Colucci (Steven) of Hillsdale, NJ; Daniel (Denise) of Monroe, NY; Eileen Duncan (Donald) of Stamford, CT; John (Rebecca) of Franklin, NJ; and William (Stephanie) of Clifton, NJ; along with 12 grandchildren: Brian Dorney (Iulia); Skyler, Blaze and Payden Dorney; Jameson, Kieran, and Taryn Duncan; Daniel, William and Cristen Dorney; Amber and Haley Dorney. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Julia Haughey (Hugh Francis) of Cranford, NJ and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 - 6 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ 07446.
