Mariann Buesing Obituary

On March 25, 2023, Mariann Agnes Buesing passed away after a brief illness. She was 80 years old. Mariann was a caring person, loyal friend, devoted sister, and beloved aunt who will be deeply missed. She was predeceased by her parents John Fredrick Buesing and Margaret Buesing (Norton), sisters Eileen Buesing and Joan Fedorow (Buesing) and her brother Vincent Buesing.

Mariann leaves behind a sister, Peggy Sardell (Buesing), as well as her nieces and nephews: Deborah Sabric, Carrie Bartholomew (Sardell), Jason Sardell, Jonathan Sardell, Desiree’ Grecco (Buesing) and Shawn Buesing. She was also a doting great aunt to five grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Born in Maspeth, New York, on April 25, 1942, Mariann was the second of five children. When she was eleven, the family moved to a farm in Pleasant Mount, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Forest City High School (class of 1959) where she was known for her ice-blue eyes. After high school, she moved back to New York City and worked at Western Union.

She moved to Mahwah, New Jersey, where she worked for EDS until her retirement.  She then worked as an administrative assistant for J. Martin Associates in Mahwah.  Mariann always wanted to help others and for fifty years was a volunteer member of the Mahwah Ambulance and Rescue Squad No. 1, where she was a Captain.

Mariann was talented at cross-stitch and created many beautiful pieces for her friends and family.  She enjoyed word puzzles, playing cards, and traveling.  She was an avid reader and collected Swarovski crystals. She happily prepared Thanksgiving dinner for her family every year and was known for her Christmas cookies.  She could always be counted on to gift people with her time and energy.  Mariann was a quiet presence who made a big difference in others’ lives.

A burial service will take place April 15, 2023 at St. John’s Cemetery in Queen’s New York.
