Marion C. O'Shea

Marion C. O’Shea, (nee Horvat) 93 of Mahwah, NJ passed away at home on December 19th, 2022.

Marion was born on December 14, 1929, in Scranton PA to Stephen and Mary (Walsh) Horvat.  Her early childhood years were spent in Dunmore, PA.

In 1945 she moved to Bloomfield, NJ to tend to her aging grandmother.  It is here that she met and fell in love with Patrick J O’Shea Jr. They married in East Orange, NJ on February 3, 1951. They would spend almost 54 years lovingly raising their family, until Patrick’s death on January 21, 2005, in Mahwah.

She was predeceased by her parents and ten siblings: brothers Joseph, Stephen Jr, John (Jack), Robert, Eugene and Dennis and sisters Elizabeth Selemba (Joseph), Patricia Matay (Francis), Anne Marie Roman (Joseph), Joan Churilla (Edward).

She is survived by a sister Maryellen Predenkowski (Jude) and two sisters-in-law Catherine Horvat (Eugene) and Barbara O’Shea (James).

She was survived by her children: daughters Sharon Pritchard (Albert) of Stroudsburg, Patricia of Mahwah, NJ and sons Michael (Nancy) of Freehold, NJ, Thomas (Marge) of South Nyack, NY, Daniel (Vera) of Brick Township, NJ.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, her loving daughter, Sharon reunited with her in heaven on January 3, 2023.

Marion was fondly known as Nana to her eight granddaughters: Courtney, Lauren, Karen, Allison, Katelyn, Sarah, Megan, and Kelli and her 17 great-grandchildren.

A shared funeral mass for Marion and daughter Sharon will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary R.C. Church (47 Island R. Mahwah, NJ 07430) at 10 AM on Saturday, April 22nd.
