Mary Turner (McLoughlin) passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, September 11, 2022. She was 95 years old. Beloved mother of Eileen Palminteri (husband Tony) of Alfred, Maine, John Ryan of Sacramento, California, Michael O'Connor (wife Jacqueline) of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, John O'Connor of Tom's River, New Jersey, Richard Ryan of Hamilton, New Jersey and Brian O' Connor (wife Lynn) of Wellesley, Massachusetts. Mary is also survived by her siblings Ann Doherty of Biddeford, Maine, Theresa O'Donnell of Streamwood, Illinois, Sister Mary St. Mark of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania and Nula Kilgallon, Una Dunleavy and Seamus McLoughlin of Swinford, County Mayo, Ireland.
Mary was a proud and loving Grandmother to Jennifer, Michael, Ellen and Joanna Palminteri of Alfred, Maine, Michael, Ryan, Erin, Kevin and Jack O'Connor of New Jersey and Brendan, Patrick, Rory and Carter O'Connor of Boston, Massachusetts. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren. Mary was wonderful mother-in-law to her son-in-law Tony Palminteri and daughters-in-law Jacqueline and Lynn O'Connor.
Mary was predeceased by her husbands, Michael E. O'Connor, John J. Ryan and Donald Turner, her brothers Mark, Patrick and John McLoughlin, and her grandson, Sheamus J. O'Connor.
Mary was born in Killasser, County Mayo, Ireland. She was the oldest of ten children born to James and Ann McLoughlin. At the age of 20 Mary emigrated to the United States and settled in New York City. Mary raised her family in Demarest, New Jersey and spent her retirement years in Carlsbad, California.
Mary discovered the game of golf in her 40's. Golf became her great joy! She traveled the world golfing and included among her many accomplishments...4 "Holes-in-one" and at the age of 78 she "shot her age". Mary was a strong and resilient woman who faced adversity with hard work and optimism. Her beautiful smile and twinkling eyes will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 4-7 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, Ramsey, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Gabriel's R.C. Church in Saddle River, NJ. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
