Matthew “Geno” Genovesi passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 25 at his residence in Bloomfield, NJ. He was 38 years old.
Matthew is lovingly survived by his parents, Beverly Lania and John Genovesi; stepparents, Michael Lania and Debbie Genovesi; siblings, Darryl (Lilli) Genovesi, Lauren (Drew) Kratz, Danielle Lania, Erik and Matthew Foerester; and niece and nephew, Julie and Dominic Genovesi. He was the devoted grandson of Quirino and Lucy Genovesi, and George and Modena Chovanec.
Matthew Genovesi was born on June 25, 1982 in Mount Kisco, New York. He attended elementary and high school in Somers, NY, and college at Bergen Community College. As a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he trained to become an electrician, progressing to Journeyman within IBEW Local 164 out of Paramus, NJ. Matthew loved cooking, cutting hair, learning and writing, philosophizing, making graffiti art, getting tattoos, driving his cherished car, helping others with their electrical challenges, spending time with his family, and playing with his niece and nephew--all while laughing uproariously, and ensuring that everyone around him was laughing, too. He was born with a bright, passionate energy that meant he made friends quickly and easily wherever he went. Nothing was more important to Matt than his friends and family: he was devoted to us until the end, and so will we remain devoted to him after his death. Rest in peace, beloved Matthew!
