Nancy Lee (Schoonmaker) Zwerling

Nancy Lee Schoonmaker Zwerling, born on August 20, 1934, in Monticello, NY, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2022, surrounded by her family in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. Beloved wife of the late Sidney Zwerling, she is survived by her three children, Danny Zwerling and his wife Cindy, David Zwerling and his wife Mary-Terese and Elizabeth Crossfield and her husband Andrew. She was the adored grandmother of Jessica and Allison Zwerling, James and Kaitlyn Zwerling, and Sydney and Carolina Crossfield. She was the beloved big sister to the late Bill Schoonmaker and Carolyn Merget.

Nancy held a master’s degree in teaching from Cornell University and she had a long and well-respected career as an English teacher, most recently at Cavallini Middle School in Upper Saddle River, NJ. She was also an accomplished and award-winning watercolorist, and she travelled the world with fellow artists to paint.

A private funeral service will be held with immediate family only at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey, NJ, followed by a private burial service at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date for all extended family and friends who wish to attend.  The details will be posted on this website in the coming months.
