Canandaigua - Olga (Sidronie) Lane McCaffery, age 95, was called home on June 6, 2025. Olga was born the youngest of 7 in Brooklyn, NY to immigrant parents, Anna and Timothy Sidronie. She received her bachelor’s degree from Long Island University. Olga married Alexander Lane on May 17, 1952, and eventually settled in Allendale, NJ where they raised their 3 children. She was active in her community for over 50 years with the PTO, Allendale Library, Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Women’s Evening Club, church, and other civic organizations.
After the death of Alexander Lane in 1982, Olga married Edward McCaffery in 1984. They moved from Allendale, NJ to upstate NY in 2018 to spend more time with family. Olga moved to Ferris Hills in Canandaigua in 2019 where she became thoroughly engaged in that community, enjoying arts and crafts, socializing, and attending “elbow” meetings. She was known for painting, making cards and bows, and arranging flowers.
Olga was predeceased by both her husbands; six siblings; John, George, Ann, Terry, Michael, and Alexander; niece and goddaughter, Barbara. She is survived by her three children; Richard (Carolyn) Lane of Okatie, SC; Katherine (Philip) Nevin of Canandaigua, NY, and Thomas (Peggy) Lane of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Michelle (Alexander) Saxby of Fort Drum, NY, Tim (Dana) Nevin of Edison, NJ and Christina Nevin of Cumming, GA; four great-grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, and Elizabeth Saxby and Julia Nevin; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, Ramsey, NJ.
Olga will be laid to rest in a private ceremony beside family at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ. A memorial gathering will be held at Ferris Hills in Canandaigua at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the FF Thompson Foundation, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua, NY 14424 for the new memory care unit at Clark Meadows/Ferris Hills.
