Patricia Barrett (nee Dinges) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Barrett, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world on October 16, 2023, at the age of 82. Patricia's life was a testament to her steadfast faith and her love for her family.
Born on March 8, 1941, Patricia was an inspiration of perseverance, faith, and love. She is survived by her three children, Kenneth (wife Rose), Matthew (wife Laura), and DarLynne (husband Daniel Frederiks), who cherished her deeply. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Melissa.
Patricia was not only a loving mother but also a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love and sacrifice for her family was a testimony, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
A strong and faithful woman, Patricia held a deep love for her Lord Jesus. She found solace and joy in singing hymns for special music and congregational singing, which she did with great enthusiasm during church services.
Her dedication to her faith extended to her work at Grace Chapel, NJ, where she actively participated in Vacation Bible School, touching the lives of countless children and helping to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Professionally, Patricia worked for UMDNJ as a clinical social worker, using her expertise to help those in need. As an adult, she went back to college and graduated with a degree from Nyack Christian College and held a master's degree in Social Work from Fordham University.
Patricia was an avid reader, constantly expanding her horizons. Her love of literature and learning was an inspiration to those who knew her. She passed along to her children a love of reading, learning and faith.
One of Patricia's great joys in life was her grandchildren, Jonathan (wife Chelsea) and Rachel (husband Mark) (children of Kenneth and Rose), and Luke and Calla (children of DarLynne and Daniel). She took immense pride in their accomplishments and cherished every moment spent with them. She also loved time she spent with her “lumpkin”-her great-grandchild Noah.
Patricia enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to explore many parts of the world. Her journeys took her to destinations such as Israel, Italy, England, Austria, and Germany, where she reveled in the rich tapestry of cultures and experiences that the world had to offer. She cherished her sojourns to Vistana in Florida.
In the tapestry of Patricia's life, her love for her family, her faith, her work, and her adventures all played a part. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, a shining example of love, faith, and grace. Patricia will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate to know her. She now enjoys the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ where her troubles and sorrows are no more.
