Patricia Cassidy Obituary

Patricia K. Cassidy, 96 on December 7, 2024, formerly of Clearwater, FL and Elizaville, NY.  Beloved wife of J. Warren Cassidy and later Howard P. Cassidy. Loving mother of James and wife Gretchen, Raymond and wife Anne and Virginia and husband Paul Bolton.  Cherished grandmother of Elizabeth Cassidy, Robert Cassidy, Andrew Bolton, Erin Duran and Matthew Cassidy. Adored great grandma of Molly & Emma Cook, Leo Duran and Erick Bolton. Also, a dear sister to the late Loretta Cassidy and sister-in-law Sr. Virginia Cassidy, OSF.

Patricia enjoyed her 37-year career with the telephone company which included many community projects most notable being the “Bell of Bed-Stuy” which earned an AT&T award. She prided herself on how many people worked for her that she got promoted and advanced their career in the company.

With the encouragement of her children, she went back to school in her mid-life to obtain her BA degree from St. Francis College in Brooklyn.  She loved to travel and believed that travel was the best education you can achieve.  Her passport has 96 pages, and she managed to fill a good number of them. The only continent she was not able to set foot on was Antarctica due to the weather.  The love of travel she passed on to her grandchildren by taking each one of them on an overseas trip when they graduated from middle school.  The trips were to France, England, Peru, Spain and Italy.

In her retirement she was involved in volunteering for 17 years at Suncoast Hospice where she used her skills to keep their database updated. She was involved in running the Top of the World (her community) ladies golf league.  She loved to play golf, not a long ball hitter but was an ace on the putting green and won various golf tournaments. Her other passion was genealogy. She traced back the family branches multiple generations. She spent many days in the NYC Bureau of Vital Statistics and the NYC Office of Vital Records pouring over census records in her quest.  She even went as far as Salt Lake City to the “Church of Latter-Day Saints” to do further research to uncover the family history. Each of the family members received a binder of the family tree, no small feat for her. To her, family was important, and she wanted to preserve the rich history of our family.
