Patricia Villano Obituary

Patricia A. (Maruggi) Villano, formerly of Ringwood, New Jersey passed into eternal rest on Saturday, April 6, 2024, after a long illness. She was 82 years old. Patricia was a resident of Hudson, Florida and most recently, prior to her passing, resided in Tampa, Florida. Born on August 23, 1941, to her loving parents, Patrick J. Maruggi and Caroline (Picciano) Maruggi, Patricia lived on Holland Avenue. She went to school and worked in New York, NY. She was preceded by her parents and adoring brother, Gary Maruggi.

Patricia graduated from St. Catherine’s Academy, an all-girls Catholic High School, in 1959. She was a baton-twirling majorette and graduated with honors. Upon graduating high school, Patricia worked as a financial secretary for a bank. Patricia married the love of her life, Frank A. Villano (d.) on May 30, 1962. Early on, Patricia and Frank lived in Texas, New York, NY, and Emerson, NJ before moving to Ringwood, NJ where they spent many happy years building a loving home for their four children. With her beloved husband, Patricia enjoyed showing and raising Irish Setters. A member of the Irish Setters Club, Patricia took on leadership roles and even was editor-in-chief of the newsletter for a long stint.

When her children were older, Patricia went to school for computer programing. She went back into the banking industry as a programmer and quickly advanced up the corporate ladder to become a System’s Analyst and VP of a major bank in New Jersey.

Patricia was a loving and devoted mother to her children. She volunteered as a class mother, sewed costumes, helped with book reports, and created many happy holiday memories. She is survived by her four children and their children, Deboranne (Villano) Marley and her husband William, Frank Villano III and his wife Brandie (Gash), Jeanine (Villano) Gunning and her husband Matthew, and Christopher Villano. Her “most precious treasures” were her grandchildren; Kristen Gunning, Patrick Gunning, Peter Marley, Spencer Villano, Andrew Marley, Alyssa Gunning, and Gabriel Villano. One of her most favorite things to do with her grandchildren was to plan family vacation activities; especially when the grandkids went to visit her in Florida. Patricia is survived by her sister-in-law, Irene (Crevani) Maruggi and many cousins whom she loved to visit and spend time with.

In her early retirement, Patricia loved traveling with and entertaining friends, playing 9-holes of golf, making pottery, playing Mahjong, and completing puzzles. Patricia dedicated many hours volunteering for her church, St. Michael the Archangel Parish, in Hudson, FL. She worked at the Vincent Saint Paul Center to help assist residents in need and gave rides to an elderly lady she befriended. She also thought driving back to New Jersey to surprise her New Jersey-based children and grandchildren was a fun thing to do! She was independent, adventurous, and passionate. Patricia approached every day with a full and grateful heart. She was caring and considerate, and always tried to see the best in each situation. Patricia, beloved daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will be dearly missed but always remembered with love.
