Patrick A. Tolve, 91, of Mahwah, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor, his sisters Josephine Aragon and Elizabeth Sanchez (John), his six children Susan Cerra, Donna Brodsky (Neil), Karen Mena (Juan), Timothy (Julie), Julie Walder (Todd), and Laura, and his ten grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother John and his sisters Mary and Julia.
Pat served in the Korean War as an Intelligence Analyst after graduating from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY. He then worked as a Research Chemist at American Cyanamid/Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, NY for 35 years. Pat was a member of the American Chemical Society for more than 60 years and served as Chairman of the Rockland Chemical Society.
A devoted and active parishioner of the Church of the Presentation Roman Catholic Church in Upper Saddle River, NJ, Pat participated in many ministries. He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, served as Grand Knight, and stayed active for many years.
Pat was a longtime Rockland resident and grew up in Garnerville, NY. He and his wife Ellie raised their children in Airmont, where they lived for close to 50 years before moving to Mahwah, NJ, in 2015.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 -7 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 10 AM at Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River. The funeral mass will be livestreamed please click here to livestream. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
