Peter Eric Zonneveld, 59, of Ramsey entered the Pearly Gates on April, 29, 2025. Pete was just shy of his 60th birthday, which happens to be the first day of summer, June 21, and according to Pete, hands down, is the best day of the year.
Pete leaves behind his wife, Cynthia (Cindy) and their daughter, Erin, who was the sunshine of his life. Pete also leaves behind his adored Shih Tzu, Roxy, and his loyal Lionhead rabbit and basketball-watching companion, Boo.
Anyone who knew Pete can agree that he was a BIG presence, and he will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
Pete is survived by his sister, Andrea Polihrom and husband Phil, and his sister-in-law, Rosaleen. Peter was predeceased by his father, Andrew Zonneveld, his mother, Johanna Zonneveld, brothers Michael, Stephen, and John, sister, Ellen Emmert, and brother-in-law, Dan Emmert.
Pete enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews: Kiki, Allie, Hadley, Michael, John, Chrissy, Jeanne, Liz, Paul, Michele, Elena, Robbie, Lisa, Sarah, Alex, Kaylin, and Lydia. He also enjoyed summer barbeques and family parties with brothers-in-law, Rob Regan and wife, Debbie, and Bill Regan and wife, Kathy.
Pete was a graduate of Tappan Zee High School and SUNY Oswego. An avid basketball player in high school, Coach Pete -- one of his many nicknames -- loved nothing better than coaching his daughter’s basketball team. Pete was a dedicated and longtime employee for Euler Hermes, having worked with the company for 35 years.
Pete’s passion for The J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets, and the Yankees was known by all. He enjoyed watching the games with friends and attending tailgate parties, whether he was celebrating or commiserating with his fellow fans. Pete was a man of many hats -- His collection of team caps is too large to count, but rest assured, he had a hat for every occasion.
Pete cherished spending time with his family, especially during Christmastime. “Big Petey” will be missed beyond words. He is gone too soon, but his love will forever remain in our hearts.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM at St. Paul R.C. Church, 200 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, NJ, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.
