Robert Matthew Rokose

Robert “Bob” Rokose, 84, a 50-year resident of Ramsey, New Jersey, passed away on December 21, 2023.

Bob was the beloved husband of Rosemarie, his wife of 61 years. He was a devoted father to his three children and their spouses: Gina Choquette and husband Greg, Jennifer Jinks and husband Tim, and Bob Rokose and his wife Elise. He was a loving grandfather, affectionately called “Hoopa” by his grandchildren Brenna and Matthew. He was a dear brother to George, Joe and wife Diane and Carol, and a caring uncle to all of his nephews – Steve, Pete, Jeff and the late Timmy.  He was predeceased by his parents, Matthew and Helen (Kowalski) Rokose.

Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Bob graduated from Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City and received his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  He served in the U.S. Air Force.  He worked as an accountant and held the position of Budget Manager at Ciba-Geigy in Summit, N.J. before retiring.

Bob was an avid reader and enjoyed the Ramsey Library. His interests included planes and cars, especially his convertible T-bird. He spent his time talking politics, listening to loud classic rock music, and having coffee with his friends. He loved his cellphone, but was often challenged by its tendency to dial unexpectedly and laughed about it frequently. He always had a great sense of humor. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 -8 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery Mahwah.
