Mahwah-Rose Marie Capaci (nee Cariddi) of Ramsey, formerly of Hackensack, passed away on December 30, 2023 at the age of 95 and was predeceased by her beloved and eternally devoted husband, Francis Charles Capaci. ‘Rosie’ was born to Italian immigrants, Frank and Maria Cariddi. She was survived by her four daughters and son: Lisa Galorenzo; Diane Capaci Urbano, her husband James Urbano; Dr. Mary Capaci, her husband Dr. Michael Moore; Tony Capaci, his wife Diane; Carla Candelmo, her husband Anthony; and her sister Frances (Baby) Zoccoli. Rose Marie was also predeceased by her beloved son in-law, Dr. Robert Galorenzo. She is survived by her thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, in-laws, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Her departed siblings include Jean, Johnny, Tony and Tommy.
Rosie was a proud homemaker tending to her mother for twelve years as well as her husband and family of five. An avid reader, she instilled the importance of education in her children and grandchildren and took tremendous interest in their studies. Rosie enjoyed nothing more than cooking for her large Italian family in her meticulously clean home. Back in the day, she enjoyed a cup of coffee with a cigarette while chatting on the telephone with her friends and sisters. Rosie was a devout Roman Catholic, deeply spiritual, with an unwavering devotion to Saint Therese. She was a life long parishioner and participant in Prayer Group at Saint Paul Church.
Her love for babies was infectious and she loved the family dogs. She developed a beautiful relationship with her caregivers and friends, Rosario and Iwona. Her dreams of travel were inspired by her prolific reading and later realized as her daughters, sister and nieces accompanied her to England, Ireland, Scotland and Spain. But mostly, her favorite vacations were spent at the Jersey shore cooking unforgettable crab sauce, consuming endless bushels of clams and later on embracing the grace and beauty of Lake George. ‘Make no mistake’ she loved our country.
The family invites friends and relatives on Thursday, January 4, 2024 to Saint Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, St. Paul Church of Ramsey, NJ or The Daniel Galorenzo Foundation.
