Rose M. Nappo

Rose M. Nappo, 95, a longtime resident of Suffern NY and Mahwah NJ, passed away at her home on Feb. 3, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  Rose was born in Mahwah, on July 27, 1927 (7-27-27) to Anna and Rocco Miraglio.  She is predeceased by her husband Veto Nappo, who she met at a Ramsey-Suffern football game, and married in 1949.  They built a home in Suffern in 1954, where Rose resided until the present time.

After graduating from Ramsey High School in 1945, Rose worked as an executive assistant at Avon Products, Inc, in Suffern, retiring after more than 40 years.  She was very active in church and community activities.  She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Mahwah Fire Company #2, and remained an active member for 75 years.  She belonged to Senior clubs in Suffern, Ramapo and Hillburn, holding offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, chaplain, etc.  A life-long parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Mahwah, she attended grammar school there, was married in the old church, and faithfully attended weekly mass.  She was also involved in many church activities, including committees to build the new church and the 100th anniversary celebration.  She volunteered at Valley Hospital for 30 years, and led the knitting club for the Ramapo Seniors.  

She is survived by her beloved sisters, Jean deFerrari of Mahwah, and Mary Ann Masi and husband Steve of Mahwah.  She was a loving and adored aunt to many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 PM – 7 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ. A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary R.C. Church, 47 Island Road, Mahwah, NJ.  Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
