Susan F. Bauer

Susan Carol Bauer (nee Forrester), age 82, formerly of Upper Saddle River, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 24, 1943, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Susan was the cherished daughter of William and Bernadine Forrester (nee Ure). She grew up in Paramus, NJ, was a graduate of Paramus High School Class of 1962 and went on to graduate from Berkley Secretarial School. Susan was employed at McGraw Hill in New York City before becoming a stay-at-home mother. Susan dedicated much of her life to volunteering, donating her time and talents to several local charities, including; The Upper Saddle River Junior Woman’s Club where she served as Vice President, The Newcomers Club of Upper Saddle River and The Upper Saddle River Woman’s Club. Susan was deeply respected for her work ethic, creativity and sense of community. She was a longtime volunteer at Valley Hospital Auxiliary and The Upper Saddle River Library, where she served as Vice-President of The Friends of Upper Saddle River Library. Susan loved playing tennis at Saddle River Valley Swim & Tennis Club and golf at Tuxedo Country Club. She surrounded herself with dear friends whom she adored socializing and laughing with. Susan was an incredible hostess who loved to dote on family and friends, often opening her home and sharing her family. She was well known in the community for her vibrant spirit, quick wit and her amazing sense of humor. Susan is survived by her beloved Son, Matthew Stanton Bauer (Marisa Irurre); her dear sister, Karen Caspare (nee Forrester); her adored grandchildren, Javier and Amaia Bauer; her nephews Christopher Caspare (Kristina Meiners) and Timothy Caspare (Robin Lehr) and her Grand-Nieces BB and Simone Caspare. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years R. Stanton Bauer, her Brother-in-law, William C. Caspare and her parents William and Bernadine Forrester (nee Ure).

A celebration of Susan’s life will be held in private.
