Tufi J. Petro

Tufi J. Petro, 91, of Mahwah, New Jersey - formerly of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on December 19, 2023. Beloved husband of 55 years to the late Mary C. Petro, loving father of Kathryn Johnson and husband Douglas and son Michael Petro and wife Laura. Awesome “Jid” grandfather to Ana and Michael Johnson and Emily and Chloe Petro. Dear brother of Dolores Murray, Edward Petro, and the late Norma Greiser. Uncle to Christine Tkaczyk and Edward Petro Jr., Bob Greiser Jr., Stephanie Greiser, Michelle Atkinson and the late Debbie Ward. Tufi was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a dedicated employee for Sea-Land for 40 years until his retirement in 1997. Always the southern gentleman, Tufi left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and taking long walks - especially with his granddog, Bella. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey, where he faithfully attended mass and selflessly served as an alter server and a member of men’s cornerstone. He was also an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. His greatest joy however, was spending time with his family, most especially his cherished grandchildren who were the light of his life.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 - 8 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 10 AM at St. Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
