Valentine Gomez Jr. passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey and spent his early years growing up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He lived in Jackson Heights, Queens for 27 years, before moving to Mahwah, New Jersey where he had resided for the last 35 years.
Val was predeceased by his parents Valentin and Valeriana Gomez. He is survived by his wife MaryLou, his son Steven (Kimberly), his daughter Andrea (Peter), his brother Dr. Alfred Gomez and many loving nieces and nephews.
He proudly served his country during the Korean War, a commitment he was very proud of. After his military service he attended Baruch College where he received his BA.
He then began a long and dedicated career at Ford Motor Company, where he worked for 37 years before retiring. He enjoyed a long and happy retirement filled with travel and cruises with his wife and children
Val was a devoted family man with a gift for storytelling, always ready to share a memory or lesson from his life.
He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Valentine to the Disabled American Veterans, Wounded Warrior Project or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
