Vincent A. Marella

Vincent A. Marella, 93 on December 3, 2022 of Mahwah, NJ formerly of Ramsey, NJ and Jersey City, NJ. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Phyllis. Loving father of Jacqueline and husband John Haywood of Cromwell, CT; Vincent Jr. and wife Barbara Marella of Virginia Beach, VA; Lisa Marella and partner Nelson Walker of Storrs, CT; and Gregg and wife Taryn Marella of Morristown, NJ. Adored grandfather of Christopher and wife Laura Haywood; Matthew and wife Rachel Haywood; Gregg Michael, Jason Vincent, Tobin Phyllis, and Brinley Doreen Marella; and Corey and wife Jillian Hopson. Cherished great-grandfather of Hewitt and Scotlynne Haywood. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Natalie Marella, his three devoted sisters: Lucy Schott, Dorothy Squeo and Dolores DeGiovine, and dear sisters- and brothers-in-law. Also survived by caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Vincent was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Men’s Prayer Group, and Cornerstone, a Eucharistic Minister, lector, usher, and devout long-time parishioner of St. Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey. He was a renowned NJ Arbitrator, Mediator, and Principal at VAM Consulting, LLC.  Vincent proudly represented the structural engineering profession throughout his life.  An avid sports enthusiast, Vincent enjoyed bowling, golf, hiking, and yoga well into his 80s, and was passionate about the Brooklyn Dodgers, the NY Giants, the NY Mets, and the Brooklyn Nets.  He never tired of the lively regular poker games with his lifelong friends from Snyder High School in Jersey City, NJ.  Fulfilling a dream, he owned a classic Corvette in his later years. 

Vincent cherished his role as the proud patriarch, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, godfather, and cousin of his extended family.

Vincent’s family wishes to sincerely thank the BrightStar Care staff with a special heartfelt thanks to his devoted caregiver Rex Appiah.  

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9 (his 94th birthday) from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 10 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul R.C. Church, 200 Wyckoff Ave, Ramsey, NJ. The funeral mass will be live streamed. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
