Walter P. Hollinger, a devout husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 1, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New York, NY to Walter A. Hollinger and Marie Schindler Hollinger, he grew up in Mount Vernon, NY and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. He worked for Bendix, later AlliedSignal, and retired after 40 years. An engineer in the Guidance Systems Division, he was awarded three patents and earned a medal from NASA as part of a team that repaired the Hubble Space Telescope.
Walter and his wife, Anne, the love of his life, were married for 48 years until her death in 2011 and resided in Mahwah, NJ. Surviving are his many children and grandchildren Ellen, Chris, James, Marie, David, Michael, Julia and Andrew Langford; Dr. Walter A. Hollinger and Emeyra de Jesus; Catherine, Joseph and Paul Lenski; John Hollinger and Judy Park; and Marie, Jeff, Caroline and Jane Short. He is predeceased by his daughter Susan, sister Marie Louise, and his companion Audrey Slyfield.
