Walter H. Pevny, Jr.

Walter H. Pevny, Jr.,  82, formerly of River Vale, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 6, 2021. He was surrounded by his children and wife. Born in Manhattan in 1939 and raised primarily in Englewood, New Jersey, Walt was a 1956 graduate of Dwight Morrow High School. Walt would later go on to graduate from Springfield College with a degree in education and later a masters degree from Montclair State University. Walt would go on to be a teacher and principal in Closter, New Jersey for 34 years.  Walt was a beloved husband to Karen for 59 years. A beloved brother to his sister Margot Stillman and her husband Larry. He is survived by his children Walter Pevny and his wife Linda, Beth Carlino and her husband Chris, Edward Pevny and his wife Lisette and Michael Pevny (pre-deceased) and his wife Diane. Walt is also survived by his 10 grandchildren Taylor Pevny, Logan Pevny, Brady Pevny, Jessica Pevny, Michael Pevny, Dallas Pevny, Katie Pevny, Isabella Pevny, CJ Carlino and Erin Carlino. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Rylan Carlino and Graham Carlino. Walt will also be greatly missed by his extended family at the Saint Lawrence River where there was never a time you’d find him without a fishing pole or inviting someone to spend happy hour with him on his deck. G-PA’s memories will be everlasting. Coaching Little League, running to sporting events and carpooling were everyday pleasures for Walt. And throughout his retirement, summer evenings would find him and Karen watching a Yankee game. A mentor to many and a friend to all he will be greatly missed. God bless him and his family.
